
Marcin Rojszczak
Biography
Marcin Rojszczak works as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Gdansk, Poland. He holds a habilitation in law from the University of Gdansk, a PhD in law with distinction from the University of Warsaw and an MSc in computer science from the Poznan University of Technology.
He specialises in the legal regulation of electronic surveillance systems. In this context, he has explored the norms governing the use of electronic surveillance by public authorities in democratic states and the risks associated with the proliferation of various excessive forms of data collection and their impact on fundamental rights. His research covers both bulk surveillance (including general data retention) and targeted surveillance.
His latest book titled “Bulk Surveillance, Democracy and Human Rights Law in Europe: A Comparative Perspective,” was published by Routledge in 2024.
In 2021, he received the Prof. Remigiusz Kaszubski Award for his work on innovative solutions in electronic banking and new technology law.
Marcin Rojszczak's research stay at VUB was funded by the Polish National Science Center (NCN) under the research grant no 2023/51/D/HS5/00639.
