In an article published in Le Soir’s edition of 17 January 2022, CDSL’s Franck Dumortier discussed the legal issues related to the further use of security video footage on which a woman was visibly pushed onto the metro tracks. A video, probably shot on a smartphone, shows a computer monitor broadcasting the sequence, in what could be a 'control room'. The dissemination of such surveillance camera footage on social networks constitutes a data breach in the sense of the GDPR. Although not specified in the article, these circumstances also questions the legitimacy of the reuse of such images for journalistic purposes by the media.
